It had been several weeks since they had parked their caravans on the parking de l’Aren’ice in (Val-d’Oise). A Linandes plain regularly occupied by traveling people systematically returning after being asked to leave the premises.

Friday November 29, 2024, the latter were again evacuated by the police, police officers and gendarmes of the Psig of having invaded the premises in the early morning. An operation carried out under the authority of the prefect of Val-d'Oise and “in application of a court decision and a municipal decree”, indicates the prefecture. Before adding: “This took place without incident and ended with the departure of all the vehicles and caravans. »

250 evacuations in 2024

Thus, while in 2023, 252 evacuation decisions were taken, the one made this Friday was the 250e of the year. Actions carried out “always within the framework of the law and respect for the person”, underlines the prefect of Val-d'Oise, Philippe Court.

Two weeks earlier, on Friday November 15, an illegal camp set up on vacant land on the Linandes plain, in Cergy, had already been evacuated. Last April, it was in the parking lot opposite the Mirapolis site that the police intervened to empty the makeshift barracks and make the caravans break camp. “We are very active in the evacuation of illegal camps, whether of Travelers or Roma,” indicated the prefect of Val-d'Oise a few weeks earlier.

Five areas in the urban area

In terms of welcoming travelers, the agglomeration of Cergy-Pontoise five areas able to accommodate 132 caravans has Cergy, Osny, Jouy-le-Moutier, Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône et Pontoise. “In order to organize life in each of the areas, the city has adopted internal regulations which specify the conditions of access and occupation of the areas. It also sets out the rights and duties of users. The duration of stay in the reception areas corresponds to three times three months, i.e. a maximum duration of nine months, in each area, in order to coincide with schooling obligations,” indicates the agglomeration.
