the mayor wants to carry out work in a stream in Chouzelot

The problem repeats itself from year to year. The Préï stream located in Chouzelot regularly overflows in the event of sustained precipitation. A problem that the mayor of the town knows perfectly well. “In the old days, fishermen would clean the bottom of the watercourse to increase the depth. But for several years, in the event of heavy rainfall, it floods the parking lot of the Coccinelle store and fish find themselves trapped in pockets of water, underlines Christian Mesnier. On November 17, we got the case. The stream rose and many fish became trapped. »

“We need to find a lasting solution”

The elected official contacted the fishing federation to find a solution. “They told me that it was not appropriate to carry out backup fishing. And indeed, rain fell in the days that followed and the fish were able to leave. But I think we need to find a lasting solution so that the situation stops. For example, we could create a central trench to guarantee a minimum flow. I contacted Epage Haute-Loue to identify solutions,” confides Christian Mesnier.

The establishment has taken the situation into account, as confirmed by its director. “We were informed by the municipality. We are going to go there and see exactly what is going on. If work needs to be carried out, we will contact the fishing federation to see what we can do to guarantee the movement of fish,” concludes Cyril Thévenet.
