The Swiss don’t want compulsory tipping

Compulsory tipping is not unanimous among the Swiss. More than two thirds of them do not want to include them in the price of their consumption, according to a survey by 20 Minutes and Tamedia. Nearly half of those surveyed are in favor of their removal.

(Keystone-ATS) No less than 48% of those surveyed were in favor of eliminating tipping compensated by an increase in the base salary of employees in the restaurant industry, according to the study published on Sunday.

Supporters of the PLR ​​and the UDC are mainly against the abolition of tips, while a small majority of yes is reached on the side of the PVL and the Center. Those who support the PS and the Greens are largely in favor.

Opposition to compulsory tipping is unanimous. The majority of respondents are against it, regardless of party, age and gender. The online survey was conducted on November 21 among 13,215 people from all linguistic regions.
