Traveling to Guyana, US Thionville Lusitanos easily won against Etoile de Matoury (0-2) in the 8th round of the Coupe de France. Julien François's gang is therefore heading to the 32nd finals of the competition for the second year in a row.
Nothing will be thrown away from this new exotic trip for US Thionville Lusitanos. An unprecedented meeting, to say the least, at the Edmard Lama stadium in Remire-Montjoly, enhanced a perfect week for the players of Julien François and Stéphane Borbiconi. Thionvillois owe this observation only to them, very serious in their 8th round of the Coupe de France despite a small combination of circumstances.
An imbroglio to start the journey
Lucky, the USTL was able to benefit from a new unique trip for its course in the Coupe de France. However, the identity of his opponent was a little delayed, for a rather particular reason. Initially opposed to the Aigles de Mana (R2 – Guyana), the resident of National 2 saw the latter being rejected by the Federal Commission for Regulations and Litigation of the French Football Federation (FFF). Initially defeated (0-3), Étoile de Matoury decided to take legal action after Aliandro Misidjan came into play at the end of the match, not on the match sheet. The latter was not listed as transferred on his match sheet, although he had been with the club since the start of the season. A decision which will have made it possible to penalize the first team mentioned, in favor of the second, ultimately opponent of the Moselle club.
The USTL enforced logic
After a slight acclimatization, the meeting quickly found its favorite. Julien François' players thought about taking precedence over the scenario, but on a corner, the ball was saved on the line (12th). The opening will be from the penalty spot after a hand penalty on Baradji's head. Amine Groune without too much surprise transforms and allows Thionville to open the scoring (0-1, 20th). A fact of play which allows the match to finally move up a gear. Indeed, in the process, Luvualu's center allows Baradji to make the break just before the first cool-down break (0-2, 24th). After 45 minutes, the lead is clear for the Moselle club.
Returning from the locker room, Etoile de Matoury finally found inspiration but stumbled on realism, then on Théo Junker several times. A real opportunity to blame each other and to restart the suspense for the locals who will have some regrets. For its part, Thionville managed its second part of the match despite some scares, but provided the essentials.
After New Caledonia, US Thionville Lusitanos took advantage of its trip to Guyana to validate its second consecutive ticket for the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France in two years. Just that. From now on, the USTL and FC Metz (winner of Raon-l'Etape this Friday, 0-1) await the draw which will take place this Monday, in Paris, with the entry into the running of Ligue 1 clubs.
