[Frontières sur place] In the Drôme, the farmers' market near the A7

It becomes more iconic with each passing day. Today, the farmers' market has set up its stalls near Albon in Drôme, just next to the A7 which is not yet blocked. After the blockades in Brussels and , the time has come for discussion, to raise awareness among all classes and all walks of life about the agricultural cause.

The land at your fingertips

Entire crates of potatoes, fruits, displays of all styles spill onto the edges of the highway, where people sometimes stop, curious or already very interested in the quality products found there. , and by the human bonds that are woven there, because for once, the farmer is there to present the fruit of his labor.

Sometimes they assigned a colleague to take their produce to the farmers' market. We thus cross Coralie, agricultural workerwho presents his stand to us: “Apples and pears, they come from home… These: it’s a colleague…” And always with a smile.

“…As for the government, it is time for it to get to work”

Quickly, we have the opportunity to question Thierry Seneclauze, already a figure in the peasant actions of last January. The spirit is still ardent, but the realization is bitter: “ Since the protests in January, in ten months, nothing has changed! On the contrary, the cash flow has worsened. We hear a lot about MERCOSUR, but in supermarkets there are already a lot of products coming from South America, or even the Central African Republic or elsewhere. » If we doubted that the problem was not new, it is there to remind us.

Son but ? « We are repeating a gathering of farmers with this farmers' market. We want people to come and meet us so that we can talk with them. As for the government, it's time for it to get to work ».

Faith of the Chosen

We meet Céline Porquet, AURA regional advisor of the National Rallywho reiterates her attachment to farmers: “ It's important to support them, they feed our families. This is why the RN has always been close to farmers: we know who they are. » She adds: “ Truly, agriculture is part of our heritage, it is a vector of national pride. »

Around us, the atmosphere is frankly friendly, between barbecue and potatoes served with warmth.

finally comes Corentin, farmerwho tries as best he can to remain optimistic, in a context where everything pushes us to give up: because “ In 10 months, the government put in place measures, which were sold as large measures. We avoided the taxation of GNR, but instead an ecological tax was put in place per liter for this same GNR. At best, we didn't gain anything, we would just have avoided losing even more! “. But like many of the farmers present, the smile does not leave him because of this; especially since everything remains to be done.

Tomorrow again, Blockages to come

If everything goes as planned, the market should still exist at least tomorrow, and allow latecomers to meet its pillars – and their gastronomy.

But the demonstration as a whole is far from stopping there, quite the contrary: on this point, Thierry is optimistic: « It may well be that by the start of the week the A7 will be completely paralyzed ». Enough to make their presence difficult to avoid for public authorities.
