SENEGAL-ENVIRONNEMENT-DISTINCTION / Eleven citizens honored by the Head of State for their actions in favor of cleanliness – Senegalese Press Agency

Dakar, Nov 29 (APS) – The Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, honored, Friday, at the Palais de la République, eleven Senegalese citizens for their actions in favor of cleanliness.

They received the distinction of ”Jambaar ci Setal Sunu Réew”, reports national television (RTS).

»These Jambaar ci Setal Sunu Réew are more than inspiring figures. They are the symbol of a nation that aspires to a better future forged by individual and collective action,” declared the Head of State.

“Through your tireless efforts to clean up, beautify and protect our environment, you have shown that a clean and sustainable Senegal is not a distant dream, but an ambition within our reach,” he added.

According to him, ”there is no insignificant gesture when working for the common good”.

In a press release, the Senegalese presidency underlines that this mark of recognition is part of the desire of the Head of State to celebrate citizen involvement in favor of public health and hygiene, and the environment, as well as promoting a national culture of community engagement.

These winners distinguished themselves by “their impactful actions” through “individual and collective initiatives that transform daily life”, indicates the same source.

She believes that this event is also intended to be ”a source of inspiration to mobilize more Senegalese around this dynamic of preserving our living environment”.

The press release recalls that since its launch on June 1, the “Setal Sunu Réew” initiative has mobilized thousands of citizens working to clean up public spaces and improve urban health.

”Through this ceremony, he underlines, the President of the Republic calls for a lasting coalition between citizens, local associations and institutions, to make sanitation a national priority and make this momentum long-term.
