Jean-Luc Mélenchon proposed Friday evening to those who want to unite with La France insoumise to wear “a joint application” on the basis of its program in the event of an early presidential election.
“We are in favor of a joint candidacy. We said it to each other ten times, based on the program. And as we will go with the program, well, come whoever wants, he is welcome, “ launched the leader of La France insoumise, who wants the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron, and thus hopes for the organization of an early presidential election.
“We understood that […] the Communist Party no longer wants us, we have understood that the right of the Socialist Party no longer wants us and we refuse to go along with people who insult us along the way,” he added during a speech to activists in Paris.
The threat of government censorship divides the left
The leader, already a presidential candidate three times, proposed a “federal offer” has “those who want” join LFI to “to run a joint candidacy for the presidential election”. “The charade which consists of coming to each election to take constituencies and chip away at the program is over,” he warned.
While the threat of censorship hangs over the Barnier government, the various left-wing parties do not seem to agree on the direction to follow. LFI criticizes the socialists for wanting to reach out to the presidential camp, and thus bury the New Popular Front.
Sunday, the leader of the socialist deputies Boris Vallaud pleaded for a dialogue between all parties, with the exception of the RN, to “raise the question of the conditions for non-censorship”, which would necessarily involve compromises.
At the end of October, the boss of the Communist Party Fabien Roussel, who lost his seat as deputy for the North in June, argued that if he were to run again, “it would not be in an alliance with LFI”.
