VIDEO – Oupette, a Limousin cow from Vienne will be the face of the 2025 Agricultural Show

It's his red locks that give him his name: Oupette will be the face of the 2025 Agricultural Show. Representative of the Limousin breed, she was chosen to be the star cow of the show and therefore appear on the poster. The largest farm in France will be held from February 22 to March 2, 2025 in Paris.

“It’s a one-tonne cow which corresponds very well to the morphologies of the Limousin breed”explains Alexandre Humeau, his breeder and owner of the Perinière farm in Dienné, in Vienne. Red dress, elegant gait and almost a ton on the clockthe animal ticks all the boxes.

“It’s a bit like the Holy Grail”

“It is a pride to represent the Limousin breed at the Agricultural Show and it is also a personal pride to be able to set up my breeding in Paris. It's a bit like the Holy Grail. We've always dreamed of going to the Agricultural Show since childhood.” says the breeder.

Departure is planned for February 20, the day before the inauguration of the Salon de l'Agriculture in Paris. But until then, the schedule for Oupette and her breeder is already very busy. “We have already started to prepare it, so we wash her once a week, we walk her, we get her used to noise, to music, we try to put her in the best conditions”, explains Alexandre Humeau.

“A great limousine”

This is the first time that a Limousin cow has been the face of the show. In 2007, another limousine, Titine, was the star cow on the bill but at the time the muse device, created in 2011, did not yet exist.

The animal is also as important as its breeder, explains Émilien Rouet of France Limousine Sélection who nominated Alexandre and Oupette. “Why did we choose this couple? Firstly because the cow is a truly beautiful Limousin, because she has all the qualities of the Limousin breed. And then because Alexandre, today, is a breeder , I want to say modern in his time He is the incarnation of breeding and the profession of breeder today and with a super limousine.

Oupette won't go to the salon alone. She must calve her little calf in December, which will accompany her to Paris. Then, she will return to her farm before a visit to the Limousine Park in Boisseuil.
