Mariannes du Civisme: seven communes of Côtes-d’Armor distinguished for their good participation rates in the elections

The presentation of the Mariannes du Civisme took place this Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Côtes-d'Armor prefecture. The Federation of Former Mayors and Deputy Mayors of (Famaf) is at the origin of this prize, created in 2007. The objective is to reward the mobilization of residents by municipality in elections. For 2024, the aim was to promote participation in European and legislative elections. Seven municipalities in Côtes-d’Armor were rewarded. These are Loc-Envel, Langrolay-sur-Rance, Lancieux, La Landec, Lanmodez, Plérin and Pléneuf-Val-André.

High participation in Côtes-d’Armor

Jean-Charles Danier, president of the association of former mayors and deputies (Adama) of 22, recalled the importance of mobilizing citizens for the elections in a context where abstention is becoming increasingly strong: “ The abstention rate questions democracy, which is why it is important to promote citizen participation in elections.” However, “participation remains very high in the Côtes d’Armor department,” rejoiced the new prefect, François de Keréver.

Plérin receives the Marianne of National Civics

This year, Plérin stood out by obtaining the highest national participation rate in the legislative elections (80.3%) in its category (city of more than 10,000 inhabitants). She thus received the Marianne of National Civics. Its mayor, Ronan Kerdraon, praised the commitment of citizens, whatever their political sensitivity, and the ability of its agents to react and organize elections within a very short time frame for the legislative elections.
