International Agricultural Show 2025: the Department of Gers renounces its participation

Faced with a tense economic context marked by financial restrictions from the State, the Departmental Council of Gers, like many other Departments, is forced to make difficult budgetary decisions.

It is in this context that the Department has decided not to be present, as an institution, at the International Agricultural Show (SIA) in 2025. The producers, ambassadors of the Gers, will be present for their part. promote the Gers region, with the repeated financial support of the Department of Gers.

The announcement was made by Philippe Dupouy, President of the Department, during the annual session of the Chamber of Agriculture this Friday at the Château de Mons.

This institutional absence in no way reflects a disengagement from the agricultural sector, at the heart of the Gers identity and economy. On the contrary, the Departmental Council reaffirms its unwavering support for its farmers and breeders through concrete actions:

  • support for the Gers producers' stand: a financial contribution has been allocated to guarantee their participation in the SIA;

  • specific aid for breeders: the Department supports Gers breeders who will mobilize to present their animals during this major event;

  • support for young agricultural generations: assistance is provided to Mirande high school students who will compete for the International Agricultural Education Trophy, an essential lever for promoting the next generation of farmers;

  • promotion of local wine and agricultural sectors: in partnership with the Riscle wine and Beaulieu Lavacant agricultural high schools, a communication campaign will be carried out to highlight these key training courses and their essential contributions to the Gers agricultural world.

The Departmental Council will also be present virtually throughout SIA 2025 through its various communication networks. The community thus reaffirms its commitment to defending strong, innovative agriculture anchored in its territory.

Our absence from the Salon de l'Agriculture in 2025 is a choice of reasons, but our support for the women and men who keep Gers agriculture alive remains obvious and a priority.
