The Abraham Mazel house in the hamlet of Falguières receives, this Saturday at 2:30 p.m., a presentation of the manifesto of the Earth Uprisings, “First tremors”. A work which takes up the recent history of the movement and reflects on environmental policy, while explaining and justifying the movement's means of action.
“We rise up because we expect nothing from those who govern the disaster.” This is how the manifesto of the Earth Uprisings movement is presented, First shockswhich will be debated this Saturday, from 2:30 p.m., at the Abraham Mazel house, in Saint-Jean-du-Gard. “The manifesto covers the history of the movement and its main principles of action”explains a member of Terres vivants en Cévennes, which organizes the afternoon.
The association invites “a political reflection, an analysis of its strengths and weaknesses, with the limits. Where are we going? Why are we doing this? The writing of the manifesto was collective, the afternoon will provide the opportunity to discuss with people who contributed to the book.” The debate should make it possible to assess “the types of action to be implemented”.
“The tool is also intended for participants and sympathizers. A good part of the writing and reflection revolves around means of action. Why resort to direct action? Some of the activists come from the Youth Movement for the climate, starts from disobedience and the observation that, unfortunately, it does not change anything.” While the power tries to “discredit direct action”by assimilating, as the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, did, the activists to “eco-terrorists”in a perilous interpretation, to say the least, of a term without legal basis.
