On November 24 in the early evening, this young woman took a 37-year-old man to the emergency room of Vernon hospital (Eure) with “a bloody wound on his back”, indicates the prosecution in a press release, confirming information from the daily Paris Normandy.
As the man's vital prognosis was in jeopardy, he was transferred to the Rouen hospital center, where he died the following night.
“A stab in the back”
The young woman who accompanied him was first interviewed as a witness by investigators from the Rouen judicial police, and left free. But investigations revealed that the protagonists had found themselves on the evening of the tragedy in an apartment, where bloodstains were revealed.
“The autopsy of the victim’s body revealed that the death was the result of a stab wound to the back,” specifies the Evreux public prosecutor’s office.
The young woman was therefore placed in police custody on the evening of Tuesday, November 26. She told investigators “that she had established an emotional relationship with the victim, but that this relationship had been marred by regular violence against her.”
On the evening of the events, during which she claimed “to have been assaulted again”, she grabbed a knife “under the influence of panic” and struck her companion with it. The accused assures “not having wanted to kill him”, adds the prosecution.
At the end of her police custody, she was indicted for “murder by a spouse or partner” and placed in pre-trial detention, in accordance with the prosecution's requisitions.
