In his decree, the prefect of Indre-et-Loire justifies this rejection by relying on “the unfavorable opinion of the Ministry of the Armed Forces, motivated by the fact that the project presents a significant inconvenience for the Cinq-Mars-la-Pile radar which is not acceptable as it stands.”
According to the mayor of Nouans-les-Fontaines, who is a supporter of this project, everything happened within 600 meters. Eric Moreau intends to ask the Army for explanations: “the rule which led the army to give an unfavorable opinion is that they put a protection perimeter of 70 kilometers in radius around the military radar of Cinq-Mars-la-Pile. However, the wind turbine The closest to the radar would be 69.4 kilometers. That could still raise questions.
The elected official is particularly surprised by the fact that the Army has changed its mind : “When the company developing the project asked for its opinion two years ago, the Army responded favorably, specifying that wind turbines up to 210 meters high would be authorized. Today, the Army said no, without explanation.” s’insurge Eric Moreau. “It’s not like we’re three kilometers away. We’re 69.4 kilometers away.“
A period of two months to contest
The rejection of the file, on the other hand, delights the fifty members of the “Nouans without wind turbine” collective. Like other opponents, Eric Leveau-Vallier had no no desire to see a 210 meter wind turbine grow one kilometer from his home. “Nouans-les-Fontaines does not get its name from just anything. We have an area that is extremely humid. We have wildlife and biodiversity to preserve and I think that these wind turbines are only destroying this biodiversity.”
Paradoxically, it is also through ecological arguments that the mayor explains his support for the wind turbine installation project: “is I am a farmer by trade so I see the consequences of global warming every day” says Eric Moreau. “I want us to switch to renewable energies so that we get away from fossil fuels as quickly as possible, to try to limit the catastrophe. If we do nothing, in 30 years, we may no longer have agriculture here. And in the meantime, no one is doing anything. That makes me desperate.”
The company developing this wind farm project hasa period of two months to contest the opinion of the Ministry of Defense.
