After the bad weather of 2023 in the Hautes-Alpes, the State puts its hand in its pocket

On December 1, 2023, desolation reached Guillestrois, in the Hautes-Alpes. Since the day before, dense and incessant rains had caused several torrential rivers to overflow.

The rain falling up to 2,600 m altitude had washed away the snow cover already present. The town of Risoul was particularly affected. The Department was facing numerous damaged roads.

The climax reached the road leading to the Risoul ski resort, requiring very significant work, carried out by the Department's services and the companies involved.

A quick promise

In the days following the bad weather, the Minister for Territories, Dominique Faure, visited the site. She made a commitment to elected officials that “the municipalities would have zero remaining charges“.

After a mission of experts mandated by the government, an estimate of 50 million euros was delivered. “Finally, when the invoices arrived, the sum was set at 37 million euros“, specified this November 28 morning the prefect Dominique Dufour, alongside the Minister responsible for Rurality, Françoise Gatel, bearer of good news.
