A little more patience to find the collections of this famous museum. While it was due to reopen its doors to the public in December, the Victor-Brun Natural History Museum located in Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne) will not reopen until mid-January.
A project started in September
The site began in September with work to install an air handling unit (CTA). Objective: to provide better conditions for welcoming the public and conserving collections.
The first stage was carried out carefully, so as not to harm
to the establishment's collections. A project led by a specialized restorer and
his team. Note for example that a partition was placed to allow the
moving the rib cage of the museum elephant.
A delicate crane operation
Second step: preparation of premises for work themselves which consist in particular of the delivery of the CTA by cranevia the roof of the museum at the beginning of January.
“In order to allow these developments to be carried out in complete safety, the museum will be
kept closed until the work is completed,” specifies the municipality.
The reopening of the museum will be Tuesday January 14, 2025.
