This is his first trip to the Channel coast, in Pas-de-Calais, since his appointment in September. Bruno Retailleau, Minister of the Interior, is expected in Boulogne-sur-Mer, from 12:20 p.m., and at the port of Ambleteuse at 3:30 p.m., to meet maritime rescue workers and members of the police, witnesses to the migration crisis in progress.

Bruno Retailleau arrived on Thursday evening at Marck airport, welcomed by the mayor of Calais Natacha Bouchart (Various right). They went to meet gendarmes on the coast, as evidenced by photos published on the social networks of the Calais councilor.

The latter, at the head of a collective of elected officials from the Cote d'Opale, had been requesting the visit of the Minister of the Interior for several weeks, to find solutions to a situation “more and more tense”.

This Friday morning, she also received the minister at the town hall, on the sidelines of her program communicated to the press, for a “private work meeting”. A meeting which was not indicated in the ministry's note sent to the editorial staff this Thursday. “As I have done since 2008, I will once again defend the people of Calais and our economic players,” explains Natacha Bouchart, supporter of a renegotiation of the Le Touquet agreements.

This year, at least 71 people have lost their lives during attempts to cross the Channel, according to the Pas-de-Calais prefecture. A record number. 33,000 people managed to reach England.
