Adjutant Chef Gail Roberts

Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Gail Roberts is a signals intelligence specialist. She enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in January 1991 and completed her basic training in Nova Scotia, at the Forces Base Canadian Forces (BFC) Cornwallis. She then obtained her professional qualification at the Canadian Forces School of Electronics and Communications in Kingston, Ontario.

She is first assigned to the BFC Ganderin Newfoundland and Labrador, where she works in the high frequency direction finding section. During this assignment, she had the chance to experience life in the Arctic and participated in a six-month mission at the Forces Station Canadian (CFS) Alert. She is then assigned to the SFC Leitrim and completes his training in satellite telecommunications. She worked in this section until her assignment to 21st Regiment electronic warfare facility in Kingston, Ontario.

At the end of this assignment, following his promotion to the rank of master corporal, l’adjuc Roberts returns to the SFC Leitrimwhere she underwent advanced training and gained considerable experience in the geospatial field. During this period, she participated in her first mission in Afghanistan.

CWO Roberts is promoted to the rank of sergeant and becomes a shift supervisor at the SFC Leitrim. Eight months later, she participated in a second mission in Afghanistan. Upon her return, CWO Roberts assumed the position of supervisor of the coordination cell of the 1st Squadron of the SFC Leitrim.

In July 2012, CWO Roberts was promoted to the rank adjudante (adj) and is chosen to represent Canada in the Personnel Exchange Program at the National Security Agency and at Central Security Service in Hawaii, where she serves as the Senior Warrant Officer of the Canadian Forces Information Operations Group Detachment.

CWO Roberts was promoted to the rank of Master Warrant Officer in July 2016 and was reassigned to the SFC Leitrim as sergeant major of the 1st Squadron. Two years later, she was posted to Canadian Joint Operations Command Headquarters in Ottawa, as a member of the operations department of the Canadian Forces Integrated Command Center.

In 2019, she was promoted to her current rank of CWO and joined the Director General – Force Development (Information Capabilities) team, as a senior advisor to the Cyber ​​Operators military occupational group as well as a member of the team of Director – Development of Forces (operations cybernetics).

In 2022, CWO Roberts was posted to the Canadian Forces Language School in Gatineau, Quebec, where she participated in a French course for a year. After completing this course, she was appointed to her current position as CWO 7th Wing (Space) in Ottawa, under the 3e Division Canadian space.

CWO Roberts was awarded the Special Service Medal, the South West Asia Service Medal, the General Campaign Star and the second clasp of the Canadian Forces Decoration.
