An ambitious project at Camp de Vaumarcus. The foundation is carrying out work to the south of the site to renovate one of its buildings, called “l'Orée”, but also to construct a new building right next to it, called “La Mairie”. The Foundation Board presented the construction package on the new building in the presence of donors and the Grande Béroche authorities this Thursday. A symbolic gesture to pay tribute to the work of the workers and a major step for those responsible for the Center.
Maison l'Orée was built in 1947. And even if it has been somewhat transformed in recent decades, it no longer meets standards, particularly in terms of access for people with reduced mobility and more either. to the expectations of guests, in terms of comfort, explains Philippe André, president of the foundation board and architect of the project.
The building is part of a set of four buildings, which form a coherent architectural ensemble. But this implies that there is a heritage to be respected, and an obligation to preserve its exterior volume. There was therefore a lack of space… hence the need to build “The Town Hall”.
Between the renovation and the new construction, this will allow Camp de Vaumarcus to have 28 places with improved comfort. And that’s not too much: demand is strong, notes Philippe André. “Attendance is very strong! » In total, there will be nearly 300 beds at Camp de Vaumarcus, 294 to be precise. To offer these new comfortable rooms, the foundation invested 2.3 million francs, excluding taxes. It had already spent 5 million francs to redo the main building, inaugurated in 2017. Proof that the Camp is doing well, according to Philippe André.
After a diagnosis of the buildings, carried out in 2021, priority was given to the work currently being carried out, specifies Philippe André. But other houses in Camp de Vaumarcus will still need to be renovated.
The new buildings “l’Orée” and “la Mairie” will be put into service at the beginning of next summer. Their official inauguration is scheduled for September 6, 2025. /lgn
