They are aged 16 to 23: three young people indicted and placed in pre-trial detention for gang rape of a sixty-year-old in Mende

The facts occurred in the city center of Mende on the evening of November 20, 2024. The Nîmes public prosecutor's office is responsible for the case.

As part of the investigation concerning a violent attack by three individuals on a 63-year-old woman, in the city center of Mende, on the evening of Wednesday November 20, 2024, the three alleged perpetrators were referred on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday November 27.

Indicted for rape in a meeting, burglary into a residential premises aggravated by the circumstance of the meeting, they were placed in pre-trial detention. They face the penalty of 20 years of criminal imprisonment, said in a press release, the public prosecutor of Nîmes, to whom the prosecution was seized.

Two adults, one minor

Two of the individuals are aged 23, the third is a minor aged 16. The victim is a foster family for Child Welfare (ASE). While she was being abused, two teenagers were in their room. It was one of them who called the police once the three attackers had left.

The victim, in the words of the prosecutor, was “very violently beaten (28 days of ITT) and, according to the first elements of the investigation, sexually assaulted“.
