Haute-Savoie: Passy builds its music school

In Passy, 4.9 million euros are being invested in the construction of the music and dance school which will be delivered in the first quarter of 2026.

The former Passy gendarmerie currently accommodates the 160 students of the music school. “Totally obsolete premises and much too small, not worthy of a municipality of our size [11 000 habitants, NDLR] », observes the mayor, Raphaël Castera.

Included in the projects of the mandate, the construction of a new building materializes with the start of the site, in July 2024, for completion in the first quarter of 2026. It is carried out on an already urbanized site, near the college, gymnasiums, the cultural space of Fiz squarefrom the youth and popular education center (FJEP). “We are densifying our artistic and sports center, which will facilitate exchanges with the college, and in particular with the “music” timetable class”continues the mayor.

With an area of 800 m², the building is in the shape of a V, with one branch for music and the other for dance, which is not, for the moment, the subject of a specific teaching. Upstairs, there are various instrument, training and musical awareness rooms. A central reception and an outdoor esplanade, intended to host concerts and events (organized by the music and dance school but also other institutions), will complete the ensemble.

Bioclimatic design

Designed to best adapt to its environment and link with the constructions on the site, the program will have a limited carbon footprint due to its bioclimatic design and the use of the latest generation bio-sourced materials.

“Given the strong acoustic constraints, we opted for a mixed structure: concrete ground floor and wooden frame upper floor. On the facade, a cladding in slightly shiny enameled terracotta tiles, varying in color from gray to white, will create a gradient echoing the surrounding mountains. details the architect Yves Mugnier, director of the WM Architectes workshop, representative of the group winning the project management contract with Studio Cappa (associate architect) and the design offices Cobalp (construction economics), Vessière (structure , facades), Fradet (fluids), Tecta (roads and various networks) and Eodd (environmental quality of buildings).

The equipment, which will be connected to the new municipal biomass heating network, represents a total investment including tax of €4.9 million. As for the current music school, located in the center of the Chedde district, it will be demolished, as well as an old business located nearby, bought by the municipality at the start of the mandate. The space thus freed will accommodate a new “childhood, health” center.
