The National Action Plan for extended

Since 2016, the Confederation, the cantons, NGOs and the Regional Natural Park have been implementing the National Action Plan for the Doubs to improve the ecological state of the watercourse and try to perpetuate the unique population apron living in Doubs. Initially, the action plan was to be completed at the end of 2024. Although the interim report published in 2023 showed that numerous actions have been undertaken, it nevertheless appears that certain measures have not yet been carried out or are in progress. course. The Federal Office for the Environment as well as the cantons of Jura and Neuchâtel have therefore decided to extend the action plan until 2030 in order to complete the last measures, information communicated this Thursday.

Looking for aprons

The Doubs has a strong landscape and natural value and is home to a large number of fish species, including the Rhône apron, a rare species, protected and threatened at national and European level. In Switzerland, the apron is only present in the Jura loop of Doubs. Visual prospecting campaigns took place last year and this year to find the aprons still present in the Doubs. In 2023, the four searches carried out made it possible to find a specimen which was captured and transferred to an aquarium in Lausanne. This year, none of the three campaigns carried out allowed an apron to be observed. The authorities are still considering the future of this species in the Doubs. /comm-mmi
