Jean-Luc Guéry, the boss of Medef 47, and Frédéric Péchavy, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) 47, are coming out of the woodwork. During a press conference on Tuesday, November 26, the two representatives of the department's economic forces were keen to recall the importance of the structuring projects (LGV, TAG, Swiss Krono) currently being implemented. Projects for which the oppositions, as well as the financial and political context at the national level, could not bode well in the eyes of their promoters.
“We hear the opponents more often, but the need to structure the department is still relevant,” recalls Jean-Luc Guéry. In his eyes, the number one subject in this area is the LGV, and the new station that goes with it. Which should see the light of day in Brax.
“We must remember what the department was like when, more than thirty years ago, the A 62 motorway did not exist. » And Jean-Luc Guéry judges that the general interest must prevail: “It will, of course, be complicated for some Lot-et-Garonnais who will see the line pass near their homes, but for the department, it is a very important project which places Agen 35 minutes from Bordeaux and 2 hours 35 minutes from Paris. This is not anecdotal when we know the difficulties companies have in finding executives and skills, without which their development projects are slowed down. »
For construction, “an opportunity”
Frédéric Péchavy also sees another virtue in this project which started in Toulouse and Bordeaux, and whose delivery is hoped for in 2032: “We know that with the project to reduce the State deficit, public procurement will increase. 'atrophy. Local businesses, particularly those in construction and construction, will suffer. The LGV construction site, as was the case for the major overhaul at the Golfech nuclear power plant, is an extraordinary opportunity for these companies and, at the same time, a way to overcome the difficulties to come. »
And the president of the CCI in turn insists: “Despite the crisis, many companies are experiencing real momentum. You have to accompany him. The LGV is an undeniable asset. »
