The story is barely believable. At the Pogba trial, the Paris criminal court held a lengthy ruling on Wednesday and Thursday morning on the raid carried out in March 2022, in the Adidas store on the Champs-Élysées, by Machikour K. and Adama C. The German brand, sponsor by Paul Pogba, each year offers the world champion a sort of voucher worth several thousand euros that he can use as he wishes.
The week following his confinement in an apartment in Montévrain (Seine-et-Marne) on March 19, 2022, the “pickaxe”, his nickname, called the store to let his friends help themselves. They are entitled to €4,000 each. Too little for the two men who, in two visits, left with 159 items and a total loot of around €10,000. “On Tuesday (March 22, 2022) we arrived late in the morning and left early in the evening”explains Adama C. at the bar.
“We let ourselves go in euphoria”
Not satisfied, they asked again, according to the story of the store director, contested by Adama C. at the bar, their friend Paul Pogba who recalled the brand with the three stripes and this time obtained a credit of €30,000. Enough to largely satisfy the needs of Machikour K. and Adama C., he thinks. On March 26, exactly one week after the confinement, the two men returned to the store on the Champs-Élysées and intended to make the most of the allocated sum. They did not come alone since Adama's wife is present, as well as two children. “On this one, we went overboard. We let ourselves go in the euphoria of the VIP purchase”recognizes Machikour K. “Usually it’s limited. But then he told us that we could take for our whole family. There were Muslim holidays coming up soon and we wanted to please everyone. »
In total, the gang selects 633 items for a total amount of more than €47,000. That is €17,000 more than the new credit granted to the French world champion by the German brand.
The store director then alerts Paul Pogba who travels in person from Clairefontaine where he is on training with the French team. He arrives smiling but his face does not hide his astonishment when he learns that he must pay the excess. What he decides to do. “He had a choice. He could have said no and we would have put things aside. But if we did that, it would last too long. He was aware of it and he paid”explains Machikour K.
“But how did you manage to take all that? »asks the president of the court? “I borrowed a truck”assures the defendant.
