The firefighters of Mayotte will carry the 38th edition of the Telethon this Friday November 29 and Saturday November 30, even if their actions began at the beginning of the month. Despite calls to get closer to Mahorais suffering from rare diseases, few dare to broach this subject and ask for support.
The 38th edition of the Telethon takes place this Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30, even if the departmental union of Mayotte firefighters began its collection at the beginning of the month. 2,000 euros have already been collected, the firefighters hope to surpass their record of almost 9,000 euros collected in 2023.

“Each barracks will have a fund where the population can participate. From 8 a.m., we will be at Place de la République in Mamoudzou“, explains Bamana Abdallah, the departmental fire brigade delegate. “We will be there to show the rescue actions, our trucks and we will perhaps suggest some maneuvers to put yourself in the shoes of a firefighter.“The next day, several activities, particularly sporting activities, will be offered at the Chirongui stadium as part of the Telethon.
For several years, the union has been launching calls to get closer to the families of patients suffering from rare diseases. “We have no family who have come close to us, we have the feeling that we are not highlighting these children in Mayotte, that we are hiding them.“, continues the delegate. “We will have to take this step, so that they can come see us and we can take care of them thanks to the Telethon. It's not just children, adults can also be taken care of.“
