WEST- INFO. Death threats targeting mayor and minister Fabrice Loher: one man arrested

Last week, at the end of November 2024, an anonymous letter, worrying to say the least, was noted by agents from the town hall of (Morbihan), addressed to the councilor. Without a stamp, the handwritten letter had been slipped directly into the City Hall mailbox by its sender. Its content? Death threats targeting the mayor of Lorient and now Minister of the Sea and Fisheries, Fabrice Loher. “It’s all the more sensitive as he now has the double hat of minister”insists a source close to the matter.

According to our information, a man was arrested on Wednesday November 27, 2024 in the evening. Still in police custody this Thursday morning. Information confirmed at West by the public prosecutor of Lorient, Stéphane Kellenberger.

Recognized by police officers from the urban supervision center

It was a lot of coordination work that allowed investigators to trace the suspect. Dozens of hours of City video surveillance tapes were used. The images ended up speaking, making it possible to precisely identify an individual, as possibly being the crow. At this point, investigators had the face of a potential suspect, but not his identity.

It was municipal police officers from the urban supervision center (CSU) who recognized the individual last Friday, allowing police officers from the police station to subject him to an identity check.

What’s next? The man in question was arrested yesterday evening and taken into police custody as part of the investigation into death threats. DNA comparisons (traces of which were found on the mail) should be carried out.

Already in the past, Fabrice Loher had been targeted by death threats in letters addressed directly to the town hall. In 2023, six letters of this type were the subject of the opening of an investigation.
