In Oise, this Basketball club, created by a passionate mother, already brings together 100 members

Ghizlane Mrabet, a dynamic mother from Clermont, transforms her passion for Basketball into a collective adventure. At the head of the newly launched Clermont Oise Basketball association, she managed to attract 100 members in just a few weeks. Create a sports club from scratch? This is the challenge taken up by Ghizlane Mrabet, a mother who is passionate about basketball. Faced with the lack of structure in her town of Clermont (Oise), she decided to found the association Clermont Oise Basketballwhich is enjoying dazzling success. A look back at a great human and sporting adventure.

A passion for basketball in the service of its children

Ghizlane Mrabet has never hidden her love for basketball, a discipline she has practiced since a young age. When her children expressed their desire to try the sport, she looked for a local solution. “I live in Clermont, my children have several extracurricular activities so when they told me they wanted to play basketball, I naturally looked in our city“, she confides. However, she quickly discovered that no club existed in this area.

In 2022, she discovered basketball workshops temporarily organized by the Oise committee. Although these sessions delighted his children, the initiative was not sustainable. It was then that an idea sprouted in her mind: if no one proposed a club, she would do it herself.

“Initially, we started with two mothers but ultimately the other mother did not continue the adventure“, she specifies. Despite the challenges, Ghizlane perseveres. She brings together a team to form an office and organizes the structure of the club.

A brilliant start thanks to a united team

With the help of three motivated coaches – Maxime Dassonville, Michael Martin et Mady Camara – the courses begin and meet with immediate success. “We officially launched the association in September at the start of the school year,” she explains. Communication, ensured in particular by Silvère Masta former wheelchair basketball player, quickly brought together 100 members, ranging from categories U9 to adults.

Creating a club was not easy. Ghizlane Mrabet had to overcome administrative and organizational obstacles, but his tenacity paid off. “When you have a project, you must not give up despite the obstacles you may encounter. You have to believe in what you do“, she affirms with conviction. Today, it can be proud of the work accomplished and the smiles of its members, who are preparing to take their first steps in competition.

A great human and sporting adventure

Clermont Oise Basketball is not just a simple club, it is also a space of sharing and conviviality for the inhabitants of Clermont. Thanks to the determination of Ghizlane Mrabet and his team, basketball is becoming a passion accessible to everyone, children and adults, able-bodied and people with disabilities.
