Liliane Derand is at the origin of this great initiative. Passionate about sport, she loves hiking, nature, running…His leitmotif is “move”.
Proposing a 100 km relay from the South to the North of the island with the staff of Réunion La 1ère is a first! What drives Liliane in this challenge? Interview:
What motivates you in this project?
Some collaborators know me very well in the house, and when I have a project in mind, “my neurons are going crazy“. In the space of a weekend, the project was already written in my head. Being able to offer employees memories and emotions is what motivates me. Bringing people together, beyond differences, caring about everyone's well-being, creating links could be the leitmotif of this challenge.
How did you prepare for this event and what were the key stages of its organization?
As I do for all projects that are close to my heart, I take notes, I organize from A to Z, that is to say, itineraries, assistance, food, safety, moments of rest, material, equipment, etc.
I submitted the project to management and certain employees who have expertise in running and trail running. Enthusiastic; they supported me and validated the event. A team of volunteers was naturally created for the organization. The project began last January and employees have been invited to participate since July. We also had a rather positive reception from all the staff. There is strength in unity!
How do you see the impact of this event within the station?
The impact of sport on the physical and mental health of employees is increasingly recognized in the workplace. And to do it thanks to this event, all together, with the same goal as the same challenge, that is to say arriving in Saint-Denis, it is a joy, a pride, and emotions that we will all share. These feelings can only bring positive values. Also be able to involve collaborators in a common project, also helps strengthen corporate culture and cohesion. Perhaps this would inspire some people to surpass themselves… both physically and mentally.
