Chocolates, teas, cheeses, spices… In 2023 we offered you a selection of 9 Advent calendars to buy from merchants in Indre-et-Loire, to be more original than the usual supermarket models. We repeat the experience with a new list. So, how are you going to wait until the holidays?
1 – Chocolate calendars: recently established in Tours, Place de la Résistance, the Loir-et-Chérien chocolatier Max Vauché (featured photo) naturally offers its version of the Advent calendar. A model based around Christmas characters at €34.90 for 230g of treats, with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolate and praline… A second version exists in the shape of a chimney with 500g of chocolate at €79.90.
Other options: La Chocolatière in Tours, Saint-Avertin and Chambray; Pierre Colin in Chinon or the Brémaud de Bourgueil pastry shop which notably presents numbered chocolate plates.
2 – Calendars for the aperitif: often rewarded in competitions, the Tachau-Théodet charcuterie in Montlouis-sur-Loire has selected Advent calendars filled with mini sausages, necessarily with original flavors to be enjoyed, for example with non-alcoholic drinks selected by the O Colibri cellar , the first of its kind in Tours. Located on Rue Colbert, it also makes an Advent calendar. A little bulky but necessarily unique because with lots of little-known products. Particularly 0% beers.
3 – Sports calendar: If you feel guilty about eating too much during the holiday season, and want to get a head start on good resolutions, the Bulle d'O swimming pool in Joué-lès-Tours is also riding the Advent calendar trend. For now, nothing to taste, but a daily competition to win different prizes (free entries, sports services, well-being moments, etc.).
4 – The most fun: the French leader in escape games, born in Tours, and who is preparing to open a new site in Tours-Nord, is marketing one book with one riddle per day until Christmas. And there is a stake because we can win game sessions if we manage to find the right solutions.
5 – The Advent journal: another book, but this time you write. The Maison Paon de Tours reference stationery concept store “an introspective 24-day Advent calendar” to complete yourself. Hard cover, gilding, high-end paper… A total of 100 pages to take stock of your year.
