the essential
Health professionals and local residents can come together for the first Health Village, organized this Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Jean-Moulin room in Castelsarrasin. An event organized by the Quercy-Garonne Territorial Professional Health Community.
“I don’t have a doctor, what can I do? » Many residents of the department ask themselves the question. There are even nearly 27,500 people who do not have a referring doctor according to figures cited by the departmental council. Like everywhere in France, Tarn-et-Garonne is experiencing medical desertification on a large scale.

To answer the questions and other difficulties of the population, the Quercy-Garonne Territorial Professional Health Community (CPTS) is launching the first Health Village in Castelsarrasin, this Saturday, November 30, in the Jean-Moulin room. A major first for the department.
Improve access to care
Active since 2022, the structure which brings together health professionals is initiating health projects “to respond to common problems”.
The CPTS Quercy-Garonne brings together nearly 48,000 inhabitants, spread over 28 municipalities between Castelsarrasin and Lauzerte, via Moissac. It includes around 300 health professionals in the region (multi-professional health homes, primary care teams, care establishments and medico-social services, etc.).
Stéphanie Roumy, coordinator, and Janis Francazal, nurse in charge of the project, detail the structure's missions: “Improve access to care, organize pathways around the patient, develop prevention actions and participate in the response to health crises . » Four objectives which will be highlighted during the next Health Village in Castelsarrasin.
One doctor for 2,400 patients in the region
Before specifying the outlines of the event, the two CPTS employees would like to emphasize, not without a certain pride: “We are the first territorial professional health community to see the light of day in Tarn-et-Garonne but we are also the first to organize a Health Village. »

For a whole day, it is possible for visitors to discover stands organized by health professionals (see programming) and to participate in conferences around various themes.
“We want to carry out preventive actions towards the population. It’s an opportunity for everyone to take stock of their health,” explain Stéphanie Roumy and Janis Francazal together.
They mention in particular the eternal difficulty of “access to care” for the inhabitants of the territory, making the alarming observation: “We have 20 general practitioners (of whom 5 retired in 2024) for 48,000 people. Or one doctor for 2,400 patients. Double the national average. It’s simple, we are the most affected territory (CPTS) in Occitania. »
Find out everything about the day's program
The Health Village, for the first edition, invites all residents of Castelsarrasin and the surrounding area, from the youngest to the oldest, to meet the area's health professionals on a forum and a dedicated day.
“We need to change our behavior regarding our health,” say Stéphanie Roumy and Janis Francazal. So the Quercy-Garonne Territorial Professional Health Community (CPTS) decided to “pull out all the stops” for the event. Nearly thirty stands are presented to the public, with the presence of around sixty health professionals.
It is thus possible to carry out a “prevention assessment” by one of the doctors (or nurses) present in the Jean-Moulin room in Castelsarrasin.
Advice on various health themes is organized for visitors: access to care, prevention of cancers and chronic diseases, lifestyle, mental health, aging well… But also, stands can carry out eye checks or diabetes screening.
Fun workshops and activities also exist for the whole family: such as first aid training (from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.), interactive augmented reality wall “to move and learn while having fun”, tastings of healthy recipes to “eat well without breaking the bank” and a games corner for the youngest. And finally, food trucks and a restaurant area are freely accessible.
Saturday, November 30, at the Jean-Moulin hall in Castelsarrasin, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The entire program on www.cptsqg.fr/village-sante.html. Free entry.
