It was around 10 p.m. on Tuesday evening in Rennes when the police were called to reports of gunshots on Boulevard d'Anjou, a few dozen meters from the Kennedy slab. A bullet hole in the front door was discovered but no victim was found on site. Shortly after, a man presented himself to the emergency room of Rennes University Hospital, accompanied by his family. He was seriously injured by bullets in the chest.
According to the first elements of the investigation, three hooded men arrived at the scene by car. One of them then got out and shot the victim twice, before fleeing in the same vehicle. An investigation is open. The Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS) in Rennes was contacted.
Aged 24, the victim was operated on during the night. His health has improved.
Numerous shootings in Rennes since the start of the year
Since the start of 2024, the Breton capital has been the scene of numerous settling of scores using firearms, often linked to drug trafficking. There have been more than fifteen shootings in recent months. On October 20, in Villejean, an HLM building was targeted by bursts, without causing any known casualties. But it was Maurepas, another sensitive Rennes district, which was the most affected, as part of a violent turf war between drug traffickers for control of two deal points.
