the essential
Since September, the restaurant “La Table du Marché”, installed for more than a year under the Villeneuve hall with Louisa and Francis, has felt very alone in this large space deserted by its former manager. “We have made an offer, and we expect responses soon.”
On this Wednesday, Louisa has just opened the sliding doors of the Villeneuve hall, inaugurated with great fanfare in 2019 by the mayor at the time, Patrick Cassany and in the presence of Alain Rousset, president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. A renovation and operation project carried out and partly financed, at the time, by Damien Christ and the Region up to 80%.
“But Mr. Christ has nothing to do with our restaurant “La Table du Marché”. He is not in it” begins Louisa. “The Allées gourmandes part closed in September, and since then, we have had no further news. If there is one thing I am sure of, it is that with Francis, my husband, we have deposited a file in order to resume operation of the hall”.
It must be said that its operation had experienced many adventures, between the long weeks of closure due to the health crisis; some neighborhood problems due to the noise of certain evenings… Since September, no more fruit and vegetables, no more bread, no more cheese, just “La Table du Marché”.
So, Louisa and Francis have their ideas firmly in place. “In our file, we explained that we will not be alone. We intend to work in close collaboration with the town hall and local producers or traders who would like to join this adventure. We have here a fantastic tool which is just waiting to be exploited. We expect a response during the month of December.
“We want to revive the hall with the help of our team”
And the couple is motivated. “If we settled here, it's because we have an idea of its full potential. The team that works with us loves their city and, they too, support us and want our project to succeed. We want to revive the hall with the help of our team, but also of all the Villeneuvois who love their city”.
And the couple believes so much in the potential of the region and the Lot in particular, that they are launching a new adventure in parallel with “La Table du Marché”, but in Casseneuil. The nautical base of this neighbor of the bastide had recently launched a call for tenders in order to find a willing restaurateur to come and set up, all year round, within the walls of the nautical base and to offer a real catering offer. “We responded to this call for tenders, and our proposal was accepted. Also in this project, we will know more in the coming weeks.”
In the meantime, the chalets are set up in rue Lakanal for the Enchanted Bastide. “It’s really a city that’s moving well,” concludes Louisa.
