The prefecture of Meurthe-et-Moselle organized a time of discussion with those responsible for the agricultural world on the establishment of loans at preferential rates backed by a public guarantee to help farmers in difficulty.
Monday November 25, 2024, Françoise Souliman, prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle, organized a time of discussion with those responsible for the agricultural world of the department, the three mutual banks (Crédit Agricole, Crédit Mutuel, Banque Populaire) and the services of the State (Departmental Directorate of Territories, Departmental Directorate of Public Finances, Departmental Directorate of Population Protection) to raise the concerns of farmers regarding their financial difficulties.
During this meeting, commitments were made by the three mutual banks on the basis of the support measures announced by Annie Genevard, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF).
Two types of systems have been put in place to facilitate farmers' cash flow. Initial aid to support farmers who are experiencing economic difficulties due to climatic or health hazards. It will take the form of a medium-term loan (2 to 3 years) capped at €50,000. A second aid to support farmers experiencing more structural difficulties such as the impact of climate change. This will take the form of a long-term consolidation loan (12 years) granted by banking establishments, backed by a public guarantee.
The Prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle and his services are committed to welcoming farmers and mutual banks.every 3 months to take stock of the situation“.
