Started in January 2022, the restoration of the church, called chapellefrom Hodeng-Hodenger (Seine-Maritime) is on the right track.
The church Our Lady of Hodenger welcomed many visitors during theinauguration of the first phase of the work renovationsSaturday November 23, 2024.
Secure the premises
Place at the security firstly, with the consolidation of bell tower and the ceiling of the nef.
Then the cement on the interior walls was removed to expose the stones and allow the building to breathe. This solves some of the problems ofhumidity that the building knew.
The church took the name chapel after the Revolution.
In 2011, studies revealed paintings from the 13thethese have largely been discovered.
The historian Emilie Moulinoux, resident of Hodeng-Hodenger, presents certain key pieces, as well as the history of the church, accompanied by Father Robert de Prémare, from the parish of Gournay-en-Bray.
THE stained glass windows were also restored, simply, in a diamond shape to respect the time of construction of the church.
The festivities continued in the village hall where Jean-Claude Delwarde, mayor of the town and president of the association of backup of the Hodenger chapel retraced the history of the work.
16 years ago, Isabelle Charrier, then a municipal councilor, decided to create the association in order to raise funds.
A piece of history revealed
In 2010, the wall paintings under the plaster are discovered.
Following these discoveries, the chapel was included in the inventory of historic monuments on September 15, 2011.
In 2014, the building permit was submitted. In 2015 a protocol with the Heritage Foundation was signed.
Years of steps followed to integrate the foundations Dartagnans, Mérimée and Stéphane Bern.
The latter “was the icing on the cake”.
The work actually began on January 17, 2022.
Jean-Claude Delwarde and Laëtitia Gavois, his assistant, thank everyone involved in this project.
“The association thanks the patrons, the donors, the companies but also all those who participated in this adventure: the volunteers, the Hodengeois, the inhabitants of the surrounding villages, the anonymous people, the artisans. Without them, we would not have been able to achieve the objective,” said Laëtitia Gavois.
And to emphasize that there are still three other sections of work to be financed, in particular the restoration of the church choir.
