Lhe Dutch-speaking Brussels trainer Elke Van den Brandt (Groen), who is currently holding in-depth discussions with Vooruit, the Open VLD and the N-VA, gave them a first working note last week. The document contains programmatic measures that must satisfy the four groups around the table. In addition to an explosive institutional component and the return of the kilometer tax (see elsewhere), the ecologist’s note includes a chapter concerning budgetary efforts, cleanliness, security, the climate and even housing. “An in-depth reform of regional institutions and the public service is necessary to improve responsiveness, efficiency and coherence,” it is possible to read, among other things, for the financial aspect. Concerning cleanliness, the document proposes, for example, the strengthening of fines for illegal deposits, as well as the research and fines team of the Brussels-Propreté agency.
