In the forests of Haut-Jura, a cheeky reforestation project

Who would have thought that the bark beetle forests of Haut-Jura could revive thanks to… diapers ? However, it will soon be a reality. There start-up française Les Petits Culottés which produces in the Vosges and ecological diaperswithout harmful substances and circuit courthas in fact just financed a large reforestation operation on plots adhering to the Haut-Jura Forest Management Fruit Farm.

Preservation of local forests

An initiative in line with the values ​​held by the company founded by Mathieu Batteur and Johan Bonnet, and which marks a engagement fort in favor of the environment and the preservation of local forestsafter the damage caused by scolytes in the French forests. These small insects which dig galleries under the bark of trees to lay their eggs are a real scourge for the forests of Haut-Juraput to the test by the climate change.

So on one hectare divided into three lots of plots belonging to several local owners, reforestation will be undertaken to replace the spruce plantationshighly exposed to bark beetle attacks, by local species better able to cope with climate change: sapin Douglascherry, oak, maple, sycamore…

Support ecosystems

This operation aims not only to restore ecological balancebut also to support the local economy in promoting deforested land. And The Little Breeds decided to embark on this project, it is also for compensate the fact that the company, a fan of “made in ” et you circuit courtis obliged to import cellulose (the absorbent of his diapers) from Finland, because this one is no longer produced in France for around thirty years.

THE 3,200 plants were financed thanks to the “Green Friday” operation : all the parents who ordered Les Petits Culottés diapers that day participated in the replanting of part of the trees, the company contributed for the rest.

Too hot to plant

The official launch of thereforestation operation was initially scheduled to take place on November 12 in Rogna in the presence of several local and national actors involved in the preservation of the environment, including the founders of Petits Culottés, the Haut-Jura Forest Management Fruit Farm with its manager Nicolas Dezecache, the team from the IDARAT company, specialized in reforestation and finally the owners of the plots concerned. The inauguration ultimately had to be postponed in the first quarter of 2025… because it was too hot to collect the plants.
