Wednesday: a sudden phenomenon could take you by surprise

Published on November 26, 2024 at 9:42 p.m.

The sudden nature of this phenomenon can cause big problems. Forecast.

Front froid

The passage of a cold front should generate instability in the atmosphere in Quebec from Tuesday night to Wednesday. A bit as is the case in summer with thunderstorms, a sneaky phenomenon could surprise you in an isolated manner. Squalls are likely to occur in several regions of the province.

Snow squalls

The sneaky nature of this phenomenon should not be taken lightly. Wind squalls are short-lived, but they can significantly reduce visibility and pose a danger if you are driving. When a cold front passes, they must meet certain criteria, particularly for wind speed.

Strong gusts

On Wednesday, strong winds could complicate the situation with anticipated snow showers. Greater Montreal could record gusts of 60 km/h in the afternoon.

First flakes

While Montreal has not yet received its first snowflakes this season, a possibility presents itself this Wednesday. If the event occurs on November 27, it is more than a month later than normal. Depending on the anticipated temperature in southern Quebec, these flakes are not likely to accumulate with a maximum expected above the freezing point.
