The hunting ended with a victory for the huntsmen, and with the death of the one who was nicknamed “The Indian”, a majestic deer described as one of the most beautiful in the Laigue forestin the Oise.
He was nicknamed “for his great chef’s headdress”.
Deer killed in a forest pond
The disappearance of the animal took place on Sunday, November 24. The Rivecourt crew tracked this deer in the forest near Saint-Crépin-aux-Bois, before catching it and ending its life, near the town of Rethondesafter several hours of fighting.
However, the deer had tried to outrun the huntsmen and their dogs by throwing itself into a pond, a few kilometers from Compiègne.
“Everyone was shocked”
“It’s still so sad to see this…” laments Stanislas Broniszewski, founder and leader of AVA France, which campaigns against the practice of hunting with hounds. “It was wildlife photographers from the Laigue forest who warned us. It created a stir in the community, everyone was shocked.”
Every year, this hunting crew kills one of the largest deer in the Laigue forest. Today, there must only be one or two left that have more than 12 or 14 horns, that's very few.
But what revolts the anti-hunting representative even more is the presence of certain hunters and huntsmen at demonstrations organized by associations to denounce the ONF's hunting plans.
“They kill the deer then demonstrate because they no longer have enough to kill,” denounces Stanislas Broniszewski.
On social networks, the sharing of this information by the collective astonishes many anti-hunting people. “It breaks my heart”, “What a horror”, “This barbarity is a shame!” » or even “Shameful!” Human beings shame me,” we read on Facebook.
More and more deer killed
“After having killed 'Black' in 2020, then 'La Pieuvre' in 2022, after having narrowly missed 'Brutus' last year and 'Fantomas' at the start of the season, the huntsmen of Rivecourt brutally ended the life of one of the largest deer in the forest, admired by all local photographers”, regrets the AVA collective.
Already last October, three large deer were killed in two weeks in the forests of Compiègne and Laigue, during shooting hunts. They were nicknamed “Passe-Partout”, “Fantômas” and “Le Rouquin”.
