Production down in 2024

After the excellent harvest of 2023 (750 kg), the harvest of 2024 is leaner: 270 kg, or 1,230 pots.

“The years follow one another and are not alike, the season has been extremely difficult for the bees,” indicates beekeeper Patrice Charron, who gives the reasons:

It all started with the ferocious predation of the Asian hornet (32 out of 48 hives killed by the Asian hornet) at the end of last season (fall 2023), weakening a large number of hives which did not survive the winter. Then the succession of bad weather in the spring prevented the bees from seeking their food, pollen and nectar, causing the delay in the development of the colonies and a limited honey harvest.

This year, urban honey would taste like linden according to the beekeeper.
