UPDATE 9 p.m.: The farmers ended their mobilization. The tractors left the Perpignan south toll roundabout. Traffic is back to normal.

Farmers are continuing their mobilization in the Pyrénées-Orientales, this Tuesday, November 26. After having demonstrated in the streets of Perpignanand as far as the prefecture, this morning, the tractors entered the southern toll roundabout of the A9 motorway, at the end of the day. Of many slowdowns are reported and roads were closed.

Traffic jams and closed roads

They are not satisfied with the government's response and the state's announcements: the farmers of the Pyrénées-Orientales are still mobilized, this Tuesday evening near Perpignan. At the end of the afternoon, the peasants went near the southern tollbooth of the A9 motorwayto light a brazier there and block the area.

Very quickly, Vinci Highways has closed exit no. 42 of the A9 in both directions. In the process, significant slowdowns were formed to the south and west of Perpignan, in the Saint-Charles sector notably. Several roads have been closed to traffic by the authorities:

• A9 Perpignan-Sud motorway interchange (n°42)
• The RD 900 between the south toll roundabout and the Hamburg roundabout
• The RD 900 between the South Toll Roundabout and the Copenhagen Roundabout

“Postpone your travels”

Other roads in the sector are completely saturated, such as Avenue Julien Panchot or the D900 between the prison roundabout and the southern toll. “Motorists are invited to limit/postpone their travel,” advises the Pyrénées-Orientales prefecture.

For the moment, we do not know how long the farmers plan to remain mobilized, and in particular whether or not they plan to spend the night there.
