Brussels negotiations: the PS stands strong against the N-VA after the leak of a note

A note from Dutch-speaking Brussels trainer Elke Van den Brandt which leaked to the press provides for the merger of CPAS and municipalities. Reluctant to govern with the N-VA, the PS reacted strongly by ensuring that this party brings community divisions back to the capital.

NWe are opposed to the merger of police zones, the N-VA is the first supporter… And so on. So having the N-VA on board a Brussels government is certainly not an option we are ready to work on.” The words come from the boss of the Brussels PS Ahmed Laaouej in an interview given to the daily Litter on Saturday, November 15. The socialist leader then expressed a veto (or almost) on the presence of Flemish nationalists within the next Brussels majority. Since that time, Dutch-speaking trainer Elke Van den Brandt (Groen) has held in-depth discussions with Vooruit, Open VLD and N-VA. The repeated refusals of the CD&V to negotiate and the multiple vetoes on the former Flemish socialist Fouad Ahidar today place Flemish nationalists at the center of the game, although they were far from initially privileged.
