Sperm, a rare and coveted commodity. You have to wait on average 15.5 months in France to benefit from a donation from an official structure, a Center for the Study and Conservation of Sperm (CECOS). There is a shortage of 800 donor candidates each year to meet the demand for medically assisted procreation (MAP). So, to go faster, some women go through a “sperm black market” on social networks. With or without sexual intercourse, they obtain the precious semen, but it is illegal. “Special Envoy” followed Maddy, who has already had two children thanks to a father recruited on Facebook. She talks about how easily she was able to get pregnant.
The journalists also organized a hidden camera donation session. In an oppressive climate, the donor multiplies the proposals for sexual relations. Some of these progenitors are “serial donors”. In France, the most famous of them is 65 years old and still donates sperm, while the limit is 45 years old in CECOS. And in the Netherlands, Jonathan Meijer would have 550 children! Convicted by the courts, he testifies to a form of addiction. For children, discovering that you were born thanks to an illegal donation is a shock.
