Regulators warn about their conditions and go on strike

According to 3 Normandie, medical regulation assistants at the Eure SAMU began an indefinite strike movement this Monday. From 7 a.m., they gathered in the pouring rain in front of the Évreux hospital center to denounce chronic understaffing.

These professionals, responsible for responding to emergency calls from 15, also report increasingly long response times, to the detriment of patients. Despite this mobilization, a minimum service is maintained to ensure vital emergencies.

Working conditions in question

Eure is facing a significant increase in calls to Samu, in particular because of another healthcare access number whose calls are redirected in the event of closure, overloading the main lines. Regulators are asking for an increase in staff numbers, in particular to reach seven assistants during the day and four at night.

They are also calling for physical improvements, such as a better-equipped call center. With the approach of the end-of-year holidays, a period traditionally marked by an increase in emergency calls, the strikers want rapid intervention from the competent authorities to avoid additional congestion.
