Agents of the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council are marching in large numbers this Tuesday, November 26 in the streets of Toulouse. More than 2,000 people (3,000 according to the unions, 1,700 according to the police) converged on downtown Toulouse.

At issue: the announcement of the elimination of 500 contract positions which will not be renewed. Unacceptable cuts for these agents who went on strike this Tuesday.

Painful but necessary job cuts according to Sébastien Vincini, the president of the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne directly linked to the impact of the finance bill on the budget of local authorities.

According to him, “efforts that will have to be made” in terms of human resources. Evoking a « exceptional context »the Department informed its agents that it “had no other choice but to reduce its spending to complete the 2025 budget. There will be a shortage of 160 million euros for an overall budget estimated at 1.670 billion euros.”

Announcements which ignited the powder and pushed agents to march through Toulouse this Tuesday in defense of their public service. These deletions concern all services of the Department.
