Monday November 25, 2024 at noon, the gendarmerie noted that an automatic radar had been set on fire in Valdallière, near Vire (Calvados). Checks with other devices of this type led to the discovery that three others had been wrapped with tarpaulin, making them inoperable but without them being a priori degraded: southwest of Caen in Longvillers (near Villers-Bocage) and Jurques (new commune of Monts-d'Aunay), as well as in Thury-Harcourt (new commune of Hom), in Normandy Switzerland.
According to a gendarmerie source, four radars were also covered in Orne.

No formal claim
We do not know precisely when these targeted actions date back, but they are believed to be recent. No formal demand, but the inscription “JA14” was found on the covered radar in Longvillers: an acronym which refers to the Young Farmers of Calvados, one of the peasant unions currently involved in the mobilization of farmers against the Mercosur agreement.
As always when there is damage to a radar, equipment belonging to the State, an investigation has been opened.
