The confrontation between the government of Michel Barnier and local authorities continues. During the meetings of the departments held in mid-November, presidents of the right and the center threatened to suspend the payment of the RSA (Active Solidarity Income) on the date of 1is next January if the government does not review its text of the 2025 budget.
So, what is the position of the Department of Seine-Maritime, the majority of which leans to the right?
The response from the president of the Department
Asked by 76actu, Bertrand Bellangerthe president of the department, initially indicates that “the time has come for discussion and that hurry should not be confused with precipitation.”
The ball is in the court of the government which will have to set the rules of the game.
“We maintain our determination and remain in dialogue,” continues the elected official. In other words, the suspension of RSA payment in Seine-Maritime is not on the agenda today.
As a reminder, as of September 30, 2024, we counted 38,657 beneficiary households of the RSA in Seine-Maritime (+ 0.7% in one year). Over 12 months, this represents more than 253 millions euros paid under these solidarity allowances.
