Nicolas Sarkozy arrested by a trade unionist in Marseille
Present in a bookstore in Saint-Barnabé (12th) on Friday, Nicolas Sarkozy signed his latest book to nearly 200 people. He was also questioned by a trade unionist, who criticized him for his recent comments on teachers' working hours.
“Are you not ashamed of throwing the teaching world out into the open? “, in fact launched the trade unionist.
“Why are you lying? You know we don't work 24 hours a week. We work 43 hours.”
“Hey guy, bye”
Faced with this questioning, the former president kept his calm and retorted: “If you want to talk to me about it, you come and talk to me about it”, inviting, with a gesture, the trade unionist to choose another time.
Faced with another reproach, namely that of having “retired at 57”, Nicolas Sarkozy then cut it short: “Hey man, goodbye”. This exchange is available in video on the FSU-SNUipp 13 YouTube channel.
Nicolas Sarkozy points the finger at teachers
During a conference in Saint-Raphaël, in the Var, Friday November 8, the former head of state had indeed suggested that teachers were not working enough.
“I'm told 'there aren't enough civil servants in National Education', but that's incredible demagoguery. The status of school teacher, […] It is 24 hours per week and six months of the year,” declared Nicolas Sarkozy.
Before continuing: “There are hundreds of thousands of competent, dedicated and wonderful teachers. And there are some who choose the job for the wrong reasons. We cannot afford to have a million teachers.”
