Thursday November 21, 145 students from three Annecy primary schools planted 800 trees within the woods of the islands, in Poisyaccompanied by collaborators from the Colas agency in Annecy.
Since 2021, the Colas group has been participating in Forest & Life educational programwhich gives schoolchildren the opportunity to be involved in the restoration of forests in their territory, to be made aware of environmental issues and to discover international solidarity with a twin school in the Southern hemisphere.
Annecy: a partnership to promote the reforestation of forests
For every tree planted in the Northern Hemisphere, two are planted in one endangered forest of southern countries. Since the start of this initiative, four reforestation projects were carried out: in Yvelines, Sarthe, Vaucluse and Doubs.
In total, in three years of partnership, 7,000 trees were planted in France et 15,000 in Ivory Coast and Madagascarwith the participation of 600 children spread across the three countries. Around fifty Colas employees contributed to the educational plantings alongside the students.
“For more than ten years, Colas has deployed a strategy in favor of biodiversity, aiming to develop and promote ecological niches while preserving emblematic species in its quarries. The objective is to extend these actions to all of its sites, including industrial ones, thanks to ecological diagnostics making it possible to define measures adapted to the needs of local fauna and flora. These initiatives include the creation of ecological meadows, the strengthening of existing hedges and the installation of shelters. promote the biodiversity”adds the group.
