The Kingdom of Morocco is a “reliable” partner and a “pillar of stability” in the region, said Monday in Rabat, the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi.
“Morocco, an always reliable, available and serious partner, is considered in Europe as a pillar of stability and prosperity in terms of regional security,” said Mr. Varhelyi during a press briefing at the end of of his meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita.
Describing the partnership with Morocco as not only “positive” but also and above all “indispensable”, the European Commissioner welcomed the actions carried out jointly with the Kingdom, recalling the EU’s support for the reforms carried out under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
“In my opinion, we must now redouble our efforts to find equally practicable solutions” to overcome the difficulties in a “short” time frame, insisted Mr. Varhelyi, expressing his institution’s willingness to “work together”.
“We are attached to all the achievements made together with Morocco and we would like to expand them,” he said.
Furthermore, Mr. Varhelyi reviewed the actions carried out jointly with Morocco, in particular for the success of the profound reform of the social security project in the Kingdom, highlighting the commitment and know-how of the party European.
The European Commissioner announced, on this occasion, the subsequent signing of an agreement aimed at supporting populations affected by the earthquake and post-earthquake development.
