Twelve candidates participated this year in the 19th season of Love is in the meadow. Among them, Manuela, breeder of ornamental chickens in the Center Val-de-Loire region. With Karell, they were the only women in the program: both were gathered around Karine Le Marchand to talk about their journey, look back on the highlights, particularly their stay on the farm, and talk about the future. Exchanges which were recorded in September in a campsite in Arcachon. A few weeks after this final shoot and by the time the episode aired, Tele-Leisure picked up news from Manuela.
“If I had had a crush…“: Manuela looks back on her adventure in Love is in the meadow
Tele-Leisure : After your suitors' stay on the farm ended, how did you feel?
Manuela : Not very good. This moment was difficult: I found myself with two very nice boys, but I realize that it doesn't work. Everyone tells me that they are super nice… It's true, but that's not necessarily enough. People don't want to hear that. Of course, I know that I have my shell, but if I had had a crush on someone, I could have gotten rid of it. It was hard to see myself on TV.
Did it bring up any emotions?
Yes, I thought it was resolved, because the filming had taken place in March, and I had spoken about it with the show's psychologist. I realize that it was a difficult week, I didn't want to hurt the boys especially as I quickly understood that something was missing. It's true that when Pierre leaves, I'm sad: I'm sad to see it didn't work.
After Pierre and Didier left, did you reread the letters you had received?
We collected the letters when the balance sheet came out. I had a courier who stood out, who should have come to speed dating, but who couldn't make it. We talked a little after the review, before it quickly died down. He wrote to me in February and I called him in September to tell him “Hello, it's Manuela, are you still available?“It’s a bit tricky!
You found yourself in the shoes of the suitors by contacting him!
It was easy at the beginning of the adventure because the men came up to me to talk to me, then I had to pick up the phone and take action. I hesitated a little, then I remembered the courage they had to write. I couldn't pass up this opportunity.
How did the reunion with the farmers of the season go during the assessment?
Awesome ! We found ourselves with complicity and lightness. This is also what I remember from the show. We are experiencing a special adventure and that creates a special bond. Everyone cares about what happens to each other. There are no pretenses.
Looking back on your stay on the farm with Karine Le Marchand wasn’t too complicated?
Yes, obviously. Karine does it well, even if she presses where it hurts, it's to help us move forward. I didn't have a bad experience. She does it with so much kindness that it works. And then we were together with Karell: I'm not into sororities and company but I experienced the moment as an exchange between three big sisters.
“I laughed“: Manuela looks back on what the show brought her Love is in the meadow
Did the show make you discover a new aspect of your personality?
Being able to let go. Be careful, I know how to do it, but Love is in the meadow made it easier for me to do it. For example, I left for the assessment full of principles: I will not put on a swimsuit, no one will see me singing at karaoke and then at one point… Me, who is very often in control, I had a laugh all alone seeing me do it. I wanted to enjoy this moment because it might be the last time we were going to be together.
Have you made peace with your sensitivity?
I'm not sure, but there are things I'm more accepting of. I managed to look at myself with kindness when I didn't think I could. This sensitivity takes a lot of energy from me, I would like to be lighter on this subject.
What can we wish you?
Find a kind, punchy man with a sparkling eye! (she laughs)
