Embrun. Water banned for consumption in several neighborhoods due to Escherichia coli

We learned this Monday, November 25 from the SIVU of Embrunais that a water quality problem was detected on the drinking water network. “As part of the regular monitoring of the quality of drinking water managed by the Regional Health Agency, a water sample on Wednesday, November 20 was carried out by the CARSO laboratory. It highlighted the absence of chlorine in the network. This result comes from a breakdown in the chlorination system. In the hour that followed, an intervention enabled this system to be restored. Remember that the main function of chlorine is to kill all bacteria.

On Friday, November 22, the results of the analysis of the water taken the previous Wednesday revealed the presence of Escherichia coli and enterococci germs in the water intended for human consumption from the Borels network, Allemends-Château Caleyres and Chalvet. A control sample taken today, Monday November 25, confirms the presence of chlorine throughout the network. Confirmation of the absence of bacteria will only be official after the results, which will be known within 48 hours taking into account the necessary culture times. »
